Happy Sundayy everyone!
I am becoming more and more obsessed with journals, scrapbooks, organisers, bullet journals, diaries…see what I mean?..So what better than to DIY one! *yay*
This is super inexpensive (can you get cheaper than cereal boxes and paper?) and an adorable little idea for your desk or in your bag for when you need to write VERY IMPORTANT NOTES *dramatic gasps* or just to keep souvenirs and tickets etc in (because I am a souvenir hoarder and not ashamed!)
So here’s how to make a cute lil journal!…
You Will Need…
- Coloured card (optional)
- A4 paper
- Stapler (preferably long-armed)
- Acrylic paint
- Pen (I used a fineliner)
How to make it!
First, fold sheets of A4 paper in half, then half again so you have a sheet that is divided into 4. Then use scissors to carefully cut down the center line (so you will have two ‘pages’ of paper left!
Next, cut out a piece of card(board) about 1cm or 1/2cm border bigger than the pages carefully and as straight as you can (unlike my attempts haha)
*sorry the photos are hard to see*
Fold the card so that you have two parallel folds in the center like soo:
Then you can go ahead and paint some black acrylic onto some card or paper and let it dry. I decided to make my journal a cat, so these are for those little precious ears!
Whilst that paint dries, you can go ahead and draw on the face on your notebook (choose any animal you wish!) And to do this I just used the fineliner to draw two sleepy eyes and a little mouth in between them- cute huh?
Now the paint should be dry, so go ahead and uct out two ear shapes (triangles)! And stick them down with glue- I put mine at a slight angle..
Now you can write your name on the front (if you wish) and then staple the pages together:
I also then glued the back of the wad of pages and stuck it inside the cover! Ah the cuteness is forming. 😉
Open up to the inside.
Then you can cut a shape that looks a bit like a square that has been cut diagonally at the top. This is for the pocket on the inside cover! Once you have cut the shape out of card, cut another one slightly bigger from coloured card and glue it down.
Fold over the edges as if you are wrapping up a present!
And stick the pocket down.
Here is what your finished journal should look like! (In fact it should look like however you wish the inside to look…) but I chose to add a monthly calendar for important dates, a pocket for souvenirs and notes, a rose-gold clip to attach pictures or scraps of paper and I also drew some flowers around the calendar with pen for decoration!
What do you think? Will you be making a journal? Ireally enjoyed this DIY, it’s so so easy yet cute! And how could I resist the cat on the front? ^-^
I hope you are all having an amazing Sunday! I have been having a lazy day because it is just tooo hot to do anything much! But I am definitely going to be using my new journal!
What things would you put in a journal? ❤
